Business insurance

Coverage built around the shop floor.

A parts counter, a service bay and a tow yard each carry different risks. We put the right policies together for the way your business runs, and keep them in one place.

Building & contents

Covers the building you own or are responsible for, plus tools, lifts, diagnostic equipment, parts inventory, computers and signage, against fire, theft, wind and other covered causes. Business income coverage can replace lost income while you rebuild.

General liability

Protects against claims from customers, vendors and visitors — a slip on an oily floor, damage to someone else’s property, or an advertising injury claim — that fall outside your vehicle-related coverage.

Garage liability

The core policy for businesses that service, repair or store vehicles. It combines premises and operations liability with the auto exposures of a garage — road tests, customer pickups and the work you do on vehicles.

Garagekeepers

Pays for physical damage to customer vehicles while they are in your care for service, repair or storage — fire, theft, vandalism or a collision in your bay. Garage liability alone usually does not cover those vehicles.

Workers’ compensation

Required in nearly every state once you have employees. Covers medical bills and lost wages for work injuries — lifts, heavy parts, chemicals and lifting at the counter — and protects the business from related lawsuits.

Commercial auto

Covers the vehicles your business owns or uses: parts delivery vans and trucks, shop trucks, customer shuttles and service vehicles, with liability and physical damage options.

Towing

For tow and recovery operators: liability and physical damage for the trucks themselves, on-hook coverage for the vehicle being towed, and coverage for vehicles held on your storage lot.

Descriptions are general. What is covered, and for how much, depends on the policy actually issued and the insurance company writing it; your Chief Insurance Officer will walk you through it.
